Studyhall Educational Foundation is launching a campaign called “India’s daughters: Unwanted, Unsafe, Unequal”. We invite the entire Studyhall family, students, alumni, teachers, parents and others to join us as we raise our voice and consciousness against gender violence and gender inequality in India in particular and in the world in general. The campaign will include online and offline activites which will be announced on our website. Please participate in the discussions by writing blogs and comments and encourage your family and friends to do the same. Let us all work together towards an egalitarian social order.

Gender Discrimination

In India discriminatory attitude towards women have existed for generations and this has affected women in their lives. Although the constitution of India has granted women equal rights but gender, disparities remain. There are limited opportunities to women as they decide the future of India. Women are disadvantaged for work and are often underestimated for capabilities. This has prevented Indian women from achieving a higher standard of living. The cultural constitution of Indian society, which reinforces a bias against women, has led to the constitution of India’s strong preference among male children. Female infanticide, a sex selective abortion, is adopted and strongly reflects the low status of Indian women. Census 2011 shows decline of girl population under the age of seven, with activists estimating that eight million fetuses may have become aborted in the past decade. The 2005 human index survey shows that infant mortality figures for females and males are 61 and 56 out 1000 live births with females more likely to be aborted than males due to biased attitudes.

खुशियों का हसीन पल हूँ मैं

चार दीवारों को बनाती हूँ

मैं ‘घर ‘

एक ‘बहन ‘

एक ‘माँ ‘

एक ‘बेटी’

एक ‘पत्नी ‘ हूँ मैं

जंगे आज़ादी की लड़ाई में लड़ी जो वो –

“झासी की रानी हूँ मैं ”

चाँद तक जिसने भरी उडान वो –

“कल्पना चावला हूँ मैं ”

पर …………………

आज तो मेरे पैदा होने पर भी लगाई जा रही है

“रोक ”

कहाँ है बाबा नानक जिन्होंने कहा था –

“सो क्यों मंदा आखिये जित जम्मे राजान ”

मुझे जन्म लेने का एक मौका तो दो

आपके सिर का ताज बनूँगी “मैं”

समझो ना मुझे कुल पर दाग

बेटो की तरह घर का रौशन चिराग बनूंगी “मैं”

It is so sad

First we were proud Indians but now our heads are bent down in shame.

We feel like a broken mirror—-shattered some men are like predators, who think women are objects to play with and indulge in these heinous crimes but punishments do they deserve? Yes they do in our opinion these animals should be punished in front of public. The government is taking it as a joke no effective measure taken so far it is indeed so sad.

  • What choices are we making as a society ?
  • Are we a nation of mass murderers ?
  • Whose job is it protect our daughters ?
  • Does a girl not have a right to be born in our country ?
  • For how long can we continue to tolerate or justify the cruelties perpetrated on women as somehow required by tradition ?
  • How is our society well-served by a tradition that forces a woman to practically sever her relationship with her parents when she gets married ; that denies her the right to take care of her elderly parents ; that denies her an inheritance from her parents ?
  • How is our society well- served when our Constitution is set aside , and half our population is denied the same rights to education, health, freedom,opportunity  and equality as the other half ?
  • After parents have killed of their daughters , where will they go to find brides for their sons ?
  • Can our society afford to have hundreds of thousands of unmarried, marginalized men with no outlet for their frustration ?
  • Are we comfortable with the rate at which crime against women is steadily increasing ?
  • When we read about rape, dowry death or female foeticide in the newspaper and just turn the page, unaffected, is it because we have become hard – hearted and indifferent, or has our own sense of powerlessness made us numb ? And if WE do not react to this outrage , who will ?
The consequences of our actions :-
As long as the birth of a girl does not receive the same welcome as that of a boy, so long we should know that India is suffering from partial paralysis.

आइए औरत को  नयी परिभाषा दें

औरत सृष्टि की सबसे सुन्दर रचना । ईश्वर की अनुपम कृति, मन से कोमल, प्यार से भरी , इरादों से मजबूत एक नये जीवन को धारण करने वाली । विघाता सी रचनाकार । ईश्वर ने तो उसे अपना रूप ही दे डाला – नये जीवन की उत्त्पति का भार दे कर ।
युगों से अपने हिस्से की जिम्मेदारी उठाए कब औरत हाशिये पर चली गयी वह खुद ही न समझ सकी
सुंदरता कुचली जाने लगी
प्यार धोखा खाने लगा
इरादे टूटने लगे
कुछ प्रश्न हैं  जिसके उत्तर शायद इस स्थिति के कारणों को सामने ला सकें
विचारणीय  हैं विचार करके देखे —
औरत की कोमलता को कमजोरी में क्यों बदल दिया गया ?
क्यों दुनिया का  भार उठाने वाली स्वयं को भार समझने लगी ?
क्यों उसकी इज्ज़त को इतना कमजोर बना दिया गया कि इज्ज़त लुटने के  डर से भयभीत वह परिस्थितियों के सामने समर्पण करती चली गयी ?
 क्यों  “लड़की” होना अभिशाप बन गया ?
क्यों चंद गहनों और कपड़ो के लिए अपने ही उन्हें छलते है ?
क्यों आदर्शों का मुलम्मा ऐसा चढाया गया कि उसके अलावा कुछ हाथ न लगा ?
क्यों “देवी ” बनाया गया जबकि देवता राक्षस बन बैठे ?
क्यों उसके  अस्तिव को वैसा ही नही स्वीकारा गया जैसे वह है ?
क्या उसका “निजत्व ” महत्वपूर्ण नही समझा गया
क्यों उसकी ” पहचान ” अपनी नही रही ?
समय आ गया है कि इस प्रश्नों के उत्तर टटोले जाये ।
प्रश्न पूछे जाये समाज के ठेकेदारों से जो अपनी सुविधा के लिए और को जब चाहे “ताज ” दे दें सब चाहें सूली पर चढा दे
समय आ गया है कि औरत अनचाही न रहे जन्म से
असुरक्षित न रहे तन से
असमानित न रहे मन से ।

बहुत पहले मैंने यह कविता पढ़ी थी तमाम समाचार पत्रों में जब बेटियों पर अत्याचार के समाचार पढती हू तो फिर से यह कविता मेरे जेहन में उतर आयी सच है आज वक्त बदल रहा है अगर अब पुरुष बेटियों के मान –सम्मान और उनकी शक्ति पर शंका करेंगे तो बेटिया उन्हें धाराशाही करेंगी , तो ए पुरुषो अपनी सोच को बदलो / प्रस्तुत है ‘बेटिया ‘ शीर्षक नामक कविता

 

बेटिया 

पढ़ रही है लिख रही है
और शिक्षित हो रही
एक नया संसार
रचना चाहती अब बेटियाँ
हो चुका है बहुत
आत्याचार उन पर आज तक
एक नया व्यक्तित्व
गढ़ना चाहती अब बेटियाँ
भेद अब अच्छा नहीं है
बेटे बेटी में यहाँ
भार बेटो सा ,
उठाना चाहती अब बेटियाँ
मत कहो उनको पराई
अब न ही अबला कहो
शक्ति का पर्याय
बनना चाहती अब बेटियाँ
उन की प्रतिभा का
समूचा जगत लोहा मान ले
काम ऐसे  कर
दिखाना चाहती अब बेटियाँ
सिर्फ इंसा की तहर
जीने का हक दे दीजिए
जिंदगीं हस कर ,
बिताना चाहती अब बेटियाँ

दूजा कोई दान नहीं

बेटे का सम्मान बहुत है
बेटी का कोई मान नहीं /
दुनिया वालो मुझे बताओ
क्या बेटी इन्सान नहीं /
बेटा पैदा होता घर में
लोग तो ख़ुशी मनाते है ,
बेटी पैदा होने पर ,
हाय -हाय चिल्लाते है
रक्षा बंधन भैया दूज का
उसका कोई ज्ञान नहीं
कन्या दान से बढ़कर जग में
दूजा कोई दान नहीं
बेटे का सम्मान बहुत है
बेटी का कोई मान नहीं

बेटी
माँ के लिए उसका बचपन ,
पिता के लिए प्यारा एहसास ,
बहन के लिए सहेली ,
भाई के लिए साथी ,
फिर भी इतने पर भी ………….

क्यों है वो अनचाही ?
क्यों है वो असुरक्षित ?
क्यों है वो  असमान ?

 

कैसा सा रिश्ता नहीं निभाती वो ???

कभी बेटी के रूप में    ….
कभी बहन के रूप में   ….
कभी सहेली के रूप में  ….
कभी बहू के रूप में     ….
कभी माँ के रूप में      ….
फिर भी प्रताड़ित होती रहती
कभी तानो से …….
कभी हिंसा से ……
कभी दहेज के लिए जलाकर मार दी जाती ……..
कभी पैदा होने से पहले ही ….
क्यों सहती है वो हर बन्दिश ?
क्यों रहती है वो सात परदों में  ?

जो देख के ब्याह के लाए उसे,
क्यों जीती  है उनकी  दहशत में ?
क्यों डरती है ज़ुबा खोलने से ?
क्यों रह जाती है हर दर्द सहके ?

 

फिर भी रहना है अपने हर दर्द को छुपाके ,
सबके सामने मुस्कुरा के ,
क्यों हैं  ये बेड़ियाँ ?
क्यों हैं ये बन्दिशें ?
क्यों हैं  ये परदे ?
अब तो जागो ………..
तुम आज की नारी हो !!
खोल दो ये बेड़ियाँ ……….
तोड़ दो ये बंदिशें ……..
हटा दो ये परदे ……..

मत रहो  तुम   असुरक्षित  असमान या अनचाही ,
लड़ो अपने हक़ के लिए ,
बनाओ अपनी एक नयी पहचान,
जो जान जाये ये दुनिया ,
और जाग जाये हर इंसान ।

Against humanity

‘Against humanity’- that’s what comes into my mind when I think of ‘Delhi GANG RAPE …….’ The abhorrent incident seems to have shaken the roots of the nation this incident has seemed to spread grief throughout the nation like a fire . People came out of their comfort zones and resented such careless actions and policies of government realizing that this is the need of hour .

The system talks that violence against women will not be tolerated but such statements and discussions seems to be worthless and unimplemented . This incident has left us all abashed that we are a citizen of a nation where girls are not safe from the day they are born . I, as a student , as a human, as a citizen of a  country and as a female oppose each and every crime against women. Women have to be respected and the crime has to be ended .

I wish this campaign will gain success and I am proud that my school has emphasized on this problem which exists in the society.

This incident has led to fear in the minds of female individuals .The apprehension will remain in the society , either its going to suck the souls of females or it will lead to complete intolerance.
