Working on men

Anju
Staff Didi’s Foods

I think the only way to change people’s mind set is to train our boys. Being a mother , sister, wife, daughter we should all try to redefine their outlook towards woman. The key to our current problem of gender bias can only be solved by working on men.

Independent Respectful Life

Sushma
Staff, Didi’s Foods

I was married to a mentally disturbed man, I did not know that he was mentally disturbed at that time. He is unemployed and is not capable to support a family. I work to support my family, initially when I was newly married I went through a lot of mental trauma, mostly because of my in-laws. They used to beat me, torture me, traumatize me .But then I joined Didi’s and I got empowered when I stepped out of the house. I have learnt how to lead an independent and a respectful life.

Make Women Safe on Street

Madhu
Staff, Didi’s Foods

One fine day I was returning from my work a man came and started snatching my saree pallo, I was quite shocked and gave a good bash to that man, it was a market place so he ran away immediately. These kind of activities happen every day, but now the time has come to take some serious actions against all such crimes and make women safe on street.

I have been facing this very issue, I was on my way back from my work in a bus, men have no age bar for molestation. At first yes I was scared but I held my breath, and shouted out loud, I got saved because I raised my voice. The most essential and important thing is to raise our voice. This kind of incidents occur every day with women as a woman we should be always ready to face such incidents in our day to day life.

Education for all girls

Sudheer Gupta
Teacher, Study Hall School

Women have started getting empowered. Now a days it is clear that what a man can do, a women can do too sometimes even better. Indeed it seems that the future will be brighter for the women of India as they are steadily getting empowered. Education for the girl child can play an important role in improving their status forever. There are big number of male chauvinists who believe in those regressive traditions.

It is said if you teach a girl then you teach the whole family. So we should emphasize  more on education for all girls. The women who have been in the leadership position have really gone ahead and transformed the life of many people. There are many examples one is our Urvashi aunty( President and C.E.O of STUDY HALL).

Let us find out what makes women achieve all this and much more and still smile through difficult times. Take my example whenever I go home I observe my better half  tired of doing households chores yet smiling. My wife thinks from her head and heart while I think only with my head and seldom with my heart. Here women score over men. Today I pledge that I will always treat women as equal and do my best for their upliftment.

The Time has come

Umesh Singh
Teacher, Study Hall School

Why focus on safe cities and communities for women and girl?

Violence that is inflicted against women and girls is due to their gender and it is one of the worst discrimination suffered by them. This discrimination is due to unequal relations of power between men and women. Women and girls are sexually harassed in parks, streets, in work place and while using public transportation but now the time has come to curb it and that is possible only if we make our cities and communities safe for them. Because cities and communities that are safe and free from violence against women help to create equal opportunities for men and women. If they would be safe and comfortable, then there would be countless possibilities for participation of women and girls in the areas of work, education and politics etc.

So we (especially the men) all should take pledge to make our cities and communities SAFE.

A common evil

Rajkumar Dubey
Teacher, Study Hall School

In India violence against women is a common evil. Not just in remote parts but even in cities women bear the brunt. They are subjected to physical and mental torture. They are the ones who work the most but are not given their due. Now protect the women and there should be a severe punishment for perpetrators of crime against women.
