Annual Sports Day ‘Athletic Meet and P.T. Display – MICROLYMPICS’ of the Study Hall School

Study Hall school organized its Intra foundation sports day on December 9, 2018 at the Sahara ground, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. The budding Olympians were keen to showcase their fortitude and resolve at the various athletic events of their choice.

The Principal, Mrs. Shalini Sinha welcome and addressed to the comprising students, teachers, parents, and spectators extolled the virtues of competitive sports and games. The CEO of Study Hall Foundation, Dr. Urvashi Sahni, in her inspirational address, described how the spirit of the game is more important than the result achieved. Participation is the key. She appreciated the efforts that went into the planning and conduct of the micro Olympics.

The Micro- Olympics were inaugurated by Shri Mohsin Raza, Honorable Minister, UP Govt. and a former cricketer. On this occasion   the guest of honor was Dr. Rakesh Naik His presence was enough to motivate the students. The lighting of the Flame was followed by an impressive March Past and the oath taking by the Sports Captains.

The enthusiasm and spirit of competitiveness of the participants was applauded by liberal clapping of the students and spectators. The parent’s race drew the maximum applause.

In 4×100 meters girls relay Prerna Stood the first prize, Study hall won second prize and Vidyasthali grabbed the 3rd prize. In 4×100 meters boys Relay, Study hall stood 1stprize, Vidyasthali grabbed 2nd prize and Prerna managed to get 3rd prize.

Best Athlete among boys was Mrinal, Shubhanker and Sarthak. Among girls best athletes were Radhisha, Geetika, Shagun and Amita. Jacaranda house was overall champion and Cypress house was runner up at the sports day event.  The wild clapping during the Prize distribution indicated the support of the participants from their respective Houses.

After the Vote of Thanks by the Vice- Principal, Mrs. Meenakshi Bahadur, the Micro- Olympics concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.


Prerna girls invited to speak at Chicago summit

Obama Foundation and the Global Girls Alliance joined hands with the Study Hall Educational Foundation Educational Foundation to make a short film on Laxmi Nishad who is an alumna of the Prerna Gilrs School. Kiran Sahu who is currently a student of the Prerna Girls School has played the role of Laxmi in the film shared earlier. Laxmi, Kiran, and Dr. Urvashi Sahni were invited to Chicago to speak at the Obama Foundation Summit. Here is a glimpse of them on stage.

In this project, we inserted bottles filled with pebbles and sand in the cisterns of our school. It uses the displacement method, by which less water is flushed, which is saving around 2O percent of water usage. Within three months only we saved approximately 67,080 liters of water.  By this method, we are not only preventing water wastage but also reducing the water carbon footprint.

Study Hall School seemed to live by this when they organized the fete on the 17th of November, 2018. The laughter, the fun, and the positivity is what study hall continues to aim for every year.
It had enthralling games, uplifting music, and exciting prizes. And if that wasn’t enough, it had a DJ with groovy music that you couldn’t help but dance along to too. All of this inside the school premises.
The students with the help and guidance of their teachers set up engaging stalls of games that people waited eagerly to try their hand at and eat the delectable treats set up to their fill.
We had stalls for everyone. Whether you’re a child or an adult, everyone left with something or the other.
But the games and food were not all that we had. We had makeup and shops set up too. You could pick out of the various designs that we had to get it tattooed on your body, have amazing nail art done and even shop for handmade, well-crafted jewelry.
Our school teaches us to respect and help those in need. The school’s foundation principles include charity and respect for those in need and we ensure that these principles are upheld by every student.
The Study Hall Educational foundation runs Prerna Girls School, where girls from underprivileged sections of society are imparted free of cost education. This has changed the lives of hundreds of young girls and has enabled them to stand on their own feet and paint the world and the skies with colours of freedom, change and self-respect.
All money collected from this joyous event goes to this noble cause. It is used to help better the lives of those who are disrespected and considered inferior because of being economically and socially backward.
We strive to reduce and end the disparity amongst the people of this world.
The fête is a means of bringing the people together for a fun time and bring smiles on the their faces, and Study Hall continues to do that without fail each year.

Children’s Day celebration

14th of November is one day for which every student in Study Hall waits for. It’s the day when teachers put up dances and skits for the children.
This year too, the day began with assembly and meditation. The main program was hosted by Suman Dwivedi Aunty and Sheeba Aunty who portrayed themselves as ‘Geeta’ and ‘Babita’ from ‘Bollywood movie ‘Dangal’.There were skits and dances presented by all teachers from class 6 to 12. It was very enjoyable to watch teachers in different attires and their funny moves. Children loved it all thoroughly.

Annual concert held at Study Hall Junior School

Study Hall Junior School held its annual concert on the 3rd and 4th of November, 2018 at the Sant Gadge auditorium, Gomti Nagar. ‘Come see the world through the eyes of a child’ was the theme of the program which took us back to our childhood and the stories with which we grew up. The students of 1st to 5th standard presented a delightful melange of stories and fairy tales which truly enthralled the audience. The little ones of 1st standard replayed ‘The Enchanted Wheelbarrow’ with great finesse. The students of 2nd standard displayed their dramatic skills in the play, ‘Godmother’s Assistants’. The students of 4th standard staged a play, ‘Annie’ in which the acting skills of the students were highly appreciated. The story of ‘Time Travelers’ enacted by the students of 5th standard stole the hearts of the audience. The children of DOSTI delighted the audience with two of their beautiful songs. The students of the 4th and 5th standard were part of the School Orchestra and they presented a medley of old songs which was greatly enjoyed by everyone.

On this occasion, Shalini Sinha, principal Study Hall, said, “I have seen many great actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi performing on this stage and now I see these tiny kids performing here. I just feel so proud and happy to see them her

Addressing the audience, Bani Malhotra, headmistress Study Hall junior school, said, “The children have the ability to live in the present and to enjoy the life to the fullest. Today on the stage students are expressing themselves and their teamwork inspires all of us and encourages the friendship”. The time and energy invested by the teachers were clearly visible in the delightful presentations by the children and the enthusiastic response of the audience.

The program concluded with grand finale dance and vote of thanks.

Convocation held at Center For Learning

Study Hall Educational Foundation had organized its Convocation for their Center for Learning (CFL) unit on Thursday, November 1, 2018, to felicitate the students who have successfully cleared their 10th and 12th NIOS examination. Mrs. Lalita Pradeep, Additional Director, Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh government graced the occasion as chief guest. Center for Learning was founded on 1st July 2013 which aim to help children cope with academic pressures of the centralized board, CFL paces the curriculum for its students with the help of open school program.

The Ceremony started with an Academic procession and welcome speech by the principal Dr. Pratima Srivastava. “Center for Learning bridges the gap between students learning needs and our education system with the help of NIOS. We aim to create a collaborative learning environment in our classrooms to enable children to develop freely at their own pace”, said, Principal, Study Hall Center for Learning.

The ceremony continued with Hindi song and instrumental performance by students. Students were felicitated and were congratulated on this occasion.

Addressing the convocation, Chief Guest Pratima Pradeep, congratulated the students for their accomplishment and wished them luck for the new inning of their life. She added Study Hall defines the real meaning of education. Along with education it expands the personalities and nurtures the soul.

On this Occasion, Dr. Urvashi Sahni blessed the students and appreciated them for their hard work and congratulated them for their success. She shared her journey. She also said Study hall has created a happy culture here, we believed dancing, singing, drama, painting everything is part of learning. Study Hall has just expand the definition of academics. At last, she said “Every Student is a champion”

The students shared their stories. Sakshi Rastogi, school topper who is pursuing BJMC from Bennett University, Noida shared about her experience in school and said “Center for Learning gave me all the support and care that I needed. It built confidence in me. I want to give the credit to the Center for Learning.” Also, Amisha Jain, pursuing a professional course in choreography from Devi Dance Academy said, “Being a member of Center for Learning, I experienced a whole world full of life, activities, and knowledge, which helped me in exploring my capabilities and shaping my career”.

The program concluded with the delightful dance performance and Nation Anthem. The overall environment was full of joy, rejoice and celebrations. Students dressed in traditional regalia were visibly excited on the occasion and displayed a sense of pride and achievement.

Study Hall DOSTI (Development of Self through Interaction) Annual Concert.

Study Hall School hosted an annual concert for the DOSTI (Development of Self through Interaction) unit on November 2, 2018, at Sant Gadge Auditorium in Gomtinagar.  The theme of the concert was “Come to see the world through the eyes of a child” which took everyone back to their childhood.  Mr. S.K Srivastava, commissioner disabilities, the government of Uttar Pradesh, graced the occasion as chief guest.

Dr. Urvashi Sahni, CEO, and founder Study Hall Educational Foundation shared how she started the Journey of DOSTI with 10 students and today, over one hundred children, are taken care of in its Early Intervention, Home-based programs, and regular school programs.  She added, “I feel so happy to see all these parents here supporting their kids and I appreciate every single effort that every teacher make here.”

The concert started with welcoming the guest and speech by Shalini Sinha, principal Study Hall School The first performance was a soul-stirring song “Let the children have a world”, in which kids shared their dreams and beliefs.  It continued with a dance performance on “Ek Zindagi Meri SauKhwaishe.”  Children of class 3 eloquently and effectively speak out their minds about what freedom means to them in form of a poem.  Students act on the short English play “The keys to heaven” which was about how we get caught up following the herd, Instead of looking at what’s real.  Two students from DOSTI Vaibhav Yadav and Stavya Mishra showcased their talent on synthesizer and bongo.  This took concert on another peak.  

On this occasion, chief guest, Mr. S.K Srivastava congratulated the teacher and appreciated them for the work they do.  He said, “it takes immense patience to deal with kids with special abilities and I see the teachers and special trainers do their work so lovingly.”

The program continued with a song performance “Hume Haq Hai Barabari Ka” and song performance by students of Center for Learning “Koshish karne walon ki haar nahi hoti.”  The next performance was a short humorous play in Hindi “Chintiprem” which left the audience laughing.  The program concluded with the delightful dance performance by students.

A session on Traffic Awareness and Safety

Study Hall school organized a session on ‘Traffic Awareness and Safety’ for students of grades 9 and 10, on 24th October 2018.
The session was conducted by an Officer of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) who made.
The students aware of safety rules and traffic guidelines.

The dangers of speeding, driving under the influence of liquor, violating basic traffic guidelines etc., were stressed upon. Students were further apprised with the importance of minimising risk by wearing safety helmets, seat belts, following rules and driving safely. The session ended with a brief oath-taking ceremony, in which the students pledged to be responsible citizens and to follow traffic rules when they acquire their driving license in the future.
