Yuva Manch 2019

On the 12th and the 13th of July, Study Hall Educational Foundation (SHEF) organised its theatre festival – ‘Natyotsav’ at Sant Gadge Auditorium. Natyotsav’s ‘Yuva Manch’, which is a platform for promoting theatre among students. Since 2006, our foundation is offering various theatrical productions. The chief guest of the event was the founder of Study Hall Educational Foundation, Dr Urvashi Sahni.

The program highlighted three major plays performed by units of SHEF. It opened with ‘Sara Ka Sara Aasman’, performed by the students and alumni of Study Hall School, Prerna Girls School and Prerna Boys School. The play was about a Pakistani poetess, portraying how she loses her mind fighting the patriarchy present in most of the countries in the Indian sub-continent to pursue her passion for writing. A drama, ‘Soch Rahi Hoon’, presented by students of Vidyasthali Kanar Inter College, Malihabad, portrayed a modern-day woman who stood up against the ‘dowry practices’. The students of Prerna Girls School and Prerna Boys School enacted a poem, ‘Meri Duniya Ke Tamam Bacche’, which was about how the children across the globe can change the world if we teach them, how they can erase the differences among the nations if we let them, and how they can bring peace that the world needs. A dance performance by students of Center for Learning (CFL) ‘Sapna’, showing young dreamers.

Dr Sahni addressed the audience, saying, “Drama is a very important part of education. It provides children a safe space to rehearse life and learn to think critically, which leads to personality development.”

At the core of all these programs, the issues women face was brought to light. The audience appreciated the acting of the children. The program concluded with a vote of thanks.

DOSTI children planted different plants at Study Hall College

To support and spread  awareness regarding loss of greenery, DOSTI organised ‘SAVE ENVIRONMENT’, a small  step to encourage children to help the environment by planting trees and making the city GREEN AND POLLUTION FREE. DOSTI children planted different plants at Study Hall College. They all participated with great enthusiasm which made the event successful.

Vocational training workshop – DOSTI

Dosti in collaboration with Shaswat Jigyasa held a  two days vocational training workshop. Gayatri Narshiman, who runs a vocational training center in Muscat (Oman) and Chennai, conducted these workshop. Parents, Special Educators, and Teachers from several part of Uttar Pradesh attended the workshop. Chocolate making, decorative candles and block printing were taught to the participants.

Oxfam Equality Clubs

Study Hall is providing an opportunity to the students to become democratic and politically conscious citizens by partnering with ‘Young Leaders for Active Citizenship’ and ‘Oxfam India’ to establish equality clubs for standard 6th to 12th. YLAC is an organization established by Harvard and Oxford alumni which along with Oxfam India (a global NGO) aims to create an equal and just society by empowering the underprivileged sections. They have chosen top schools all over India to enable students to develop social leadership skills and build empathy as they learn, discuss and implement actions to create a change through stimulating activities, role-plays, debates, competitions, campaigns and field trips where they learn from experts in fields of gender, economic and social equality. The opening ceremony was held on 3rdJuly ’2019, the club began with great fervour as students expressed views and engaged in activities like word association and dance and tell helping them to become aware of the prejudices existing in society. The principal, Mrs. Shalini Sinha further explained the students on how they are supposed to speak up in the face of inequality, the students left with sparks in their hearts and minds to stoke a greater fire of the fight against inequality.

Investiture ceremony 2019-20

Study Hall School elected its new cabinet for the session 2019-20. Aditya Shukla and Malvika Pandey were elected as the new head boy and head girl, and Aditya Agarwal and Ayesha Sheikh as the vice heads by Ms Shalini Sinha, the principal of Study Hall. The sports captain Gokulesh Tripathi and Bhavya Singh and the vice sports captain Arunim Agarwal and Shagun Suryavanshi were appointed next. The rest of the cabinet was appointed by the vice principal Ms Meenakshi Bahadur.

The new house captains are:

Fireflame house captains Ishita Shail Pathak and Sparsh Tiwari, vice captains Devika Chawla and Aryaman Tripathi.

Silver Oak house captains Sukaina Masood and Shashank Shekhar, vice captains Paridhi Arya and Shantanu Vidyarthi.

Cypress house captains – Vageesh Chaudhary and Hitakshi Tiwari, vice captains Kushagra Trivedi and Kriti Walia.

Jacaranda house captains – Manthaj Jaiswal and Deepanshi Verma, vice captains Abuzar Afzal and Tweesha Agarwal.

The newly elected cabinet, pledged their devotion and sincerity to the “universe of care” Study Hall. The principal wished the cabinet luck and spoke about who a true leader is and how they should motivate everyone to be better. She further stressed the core values of Study Hall and democratic citizenship. Our founder Dr Urvashi Sahni also blessed the newly elected cabinet and inspired them with her wise words.

 

 

Swimmers bring laurels to Study Hall

Study Hall School students participated in the Uttar Pradesh state swimming championship on 20th May, 2019. Vanshika Mishra of class 8th won silver in 400 meters freestyle. Another student from class 4th, Kapil Yadav stood 4th in 200 meters breaststroke.

Kushagra Mishra of class 3rd won bronze in 400 meters medley relay state championship held in Bareilly.
